Isaac Sorkin (University of Michigan) presents "Ranking Firms Using Revealed Preference" in the CES Seminar

On March 19, Isaac Sorkin (University of Michigan) presents "Ranking Firms Using Revealed Preference" in the CES Seminar.

Abstract

This paper shows how to use the network of worker flows to estimate revealed preference valuations of firms. I compare these valuations to the patterns of pay increases and decreases when workers change firms. This comparison implies that about 13% of the variance in earnings in the U.S. economy is due to compensating differentials and 10% is due to labor market frictions.
