U.S. Census Center for Statistical Research and Methodology Job Opportunity

The incumbent of this position serves as Leader for one of the Research Groups of the Center for Statistical Research and Methodology (CSRM).  These groups currently have mathematical statisticians with expertise in sampling and estimation  and experimental design, simulations, and modeling.  The researchers in these groups (as well as others in the center) develop, conduct, and report programs of research for the improvement of Census Bureau processes and products through the conception, refinement, and application of methods and techniques derived from the theory and practice of statistics, mathematics, and computing.

The individual selected for the position will:

  • Be responsible for the formulation and establishment of research projects, within general Census Bureau policies and legal requirements, for the scope, nature, and conduct of the activities of the mathematical statistics area or the statistical computing area and also policies governing working relationships with the methods staffs of the Census Bureau and with administrative research works of universities and research institutes;
  • Keep informed of the methodological research activities in other Government agencies, research institutes, universities, and other centers of research; and

·         Be responsible for the direct and indirect technical leadership of approximately 2-4 employees engaged in a program of statistical research for the improvement of Census Bureau processes and products.
